Coffee breaks may hurt teamwork

"The ubiquitous tea/coffee break might backfire in business situations." So says the Economic & Social Research Council in its recent report, Caffeine, Stress and Task Performance in Individuals, Dyads and Groups.

Researchers found that consumption of caffiene by team members, especially men, had negative effects on performance and collaboration. Indivuduals consuming caffiene experienced increased stress, poorer performance on some tasks, and worse outcomes working in pairs or small teams.

So much holding your next team meeting at the corner coffee shop.
